Experiences Shared by Our Clients

PK

Prapha Kongsuwan

Bangkok, Thailand

"I came with a stack of documents I did not understand — an agreement my former husband's lawyer had prepared. The team read everything carefully and explained in plain English what I was actually being asked to sign. The written summary they gave me helped me discuss the matter with my family before I decided anything."

Marcus Hoffmann

German expatriate, Bangkok

"Navigating a separation here as a foreigner with a child involved is genuinely complicated. I did not know where to start. Jasmine Legal took the time to explain how Thai law applied to my situation and what options I had. It took more than one conversation before I felt clear on things, which was fine — they never made me feel rushed."

Comprehensive Engagement — March 2025

SW

Somsri Wattanasuk

Chiang Mai (matter in Bangkok)

"As a grandmother trying to maintain contact with my grandchildren after my son's separation, I was not sure anyone would take my situation seriously. Jasmine Legal listened to everything and explained what my rights were in a way I could actually follow. The submission they prepared on my behalf was handled with great care."

Grandparent Contact Counsel — April 2025

Jennifer Lim

Singaporean, resident Bangkok

"I had a prenuptial agreement from Singapore that I needed reviewed before my marriage registration here. Jasmine Legal explained what it would and would not cover under Thai law and what, if anything, I should consider having added. Straightforward, thorough, and exactly what I needed."

AT

Ananya Thammarat

Bangkok, Thailand

"My matter involved property, children's living arrangements, and a court order from Australia that needed to be understood in Thai context. Having one person familiar with all of it rather than explaining everything twice to different people made a real difference. The pace suited me — there were moments when I needed a few days before I could think about the next step."

Comprehensive Engagement — February–April 2025

NP

Niran Phommarath

Bangkok, Thailand

"I came in uncertain whether I had a legal basis to seek more contact with my grandchildren. After the appointment, I had a written summary that explained exactly what Thai law said and what steps were available to me. I appreciated that they were honest — including about the parts that might be difficult."

Case Studies

Selected Client Journeys

The following summaries describe client situations in general terms. All identifying details have been changed.

Case Study 01

Document Review Before Signing

Challenge

A client was presented with a lengthy financial agreement by the other party's legal representative and given limited time to respond. The client did not feel she fully understood what she was being asked to accept.

Our Approach

We reviewed all documents in advance of the appointment, identified three clauses with implications not apparent from a plain reading, and prepared a written summary explaining each item in practical terms.

Outcome

Client negotiated two amendments before signing. She later said the written summary was essential to those discussions. Single appointment; matter resolved within two weeks.

Case Study 02

Grandparent Contact Formalised

Challenge

Following the separation of their adult child, grandparents found that contact with their two grandchildren had become irregular and at times was being refused without explanation.

Our Approach

We reviewed the applicable sections of the Civil and Commercial Code, advised on the recognition of grandparent relationships in Thai family proceedings, and prepared a formal submission requesting a contact arrangement.

Outcome

A structured contact arrangement was agreed and formalised within six weeks. Both grandparents described the process as more accessible than they had expected.

Case Study 03

Multi-Element Separation Managed

Challenge

An expatriate client was navigating a separation that involved property held jointly in Thailand, questions of children's arrangements, and a prior court order from the UK that needed to be placed in context.

Our Approach

We took on the matter as a comprehensive engagement, mapping all elements at the outset and working through them in sequence. Regular review meetings were held across four months, with documentation produced after each.

Outcome

All matters resolved within the engagement period. Client reported that continuity of counsel was the single most valuable aspect — not having to re-explain the situation at every step.
